This plant is native to Ethiopia, though it can now be found in other locations. Applied topically, this non-fragrant seed oil forms a protective layer over the skin which helps it retain moisture. This promotes hydration, giving skin a soft, smooth and plump appearance. _Crambe abyssinica_ contains soothing linoleic and oleic acids. However, it’s erucic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid that helps the skin to seal in moisture, which makes up most of this seed oil’s profile. _Crambe abyssinica_ seed oil contains between 50 and 65% erucic acid. This particular omega fatty acid is common within oils produced from members of the Brassicaceae family, of which _Crambe abyssinica_ is one. Due to its hydrating and conditioning qualities, this ingredient is also used in hair care formulations.
