Rubus Occidentalis Fruit Extract description

_Rubus occidentalis_ fruit extract (AKA black raspberry extract) is an antioxidant-rich plant extract that offers anti-aging benefits due to its unique chemical composition. This extract comes from the berries of the _Rubus occidentalis_ shrub, which is native to North America. Research demonstrates this fruit extract contains anthocyanins (more than any other form of raspberry) and ellagitannins, both of which offer skin potent antioxidant benefits. When applied topically, the compounds within _Rubus occidentalis_ fruit extract work to defend skin against the effects of pro-aging environmental factors. It helps safeguard skin, even skin tone related to external damage and helps keep skin healthy. Some research suggests that this plant extract also offers antimicrobial benefits. Outside of skin care, _Rubus occidentalis_ fruit extract is often used within supplements and in the health industry. Its safety for topical use hasn’t been formally evaluated; however, the fact that it can be safely consumed (in moderation) as part of a healthy diet and is not known to contain volatile components bodes well for use on skin.
