Jania Rubens Extract description

_Jania rubens_ extract comes from a type of red marine algae. Like most types of algae, it has multifaceted benefits for skin. Research demonstrates that this type of algae extract is a good source of antioxidant-rich flavonoids and that it helps fight signs of UV-related aging. It also contains glycosaminoglycans, a group of complex proteins that support skin hydration and replenishment (hyaluronic acid is an example of a glycosaminoglycan). There is also evidence that _Jania rubens_ extract interrupts inflammatory processes within skin, making it a valuable soothing ingredient. Some studies even indicate that peptides derived from this extract can help skin build collagen, though more research is needed. That being said, this is still a very good ingredient and one to consider in the search for anti-aging products. The typical use level of _Jania rubens_ extract in cosmetics is 1–2% when supplied in a water and glycerin base.
